What’s Their Story?

I’m at one of my favorite coffee shops enjoying a freshly brewed cup of coffee, and a hot bowl of potato soup. I notice the different groups of customers chatting away. Ladies giggle as they conversate. I wonder who they are…what is their story? Even when we meet an individual for the first or second time, do we really know their story? I think most people we know, we probably don’t really know their story—what their life is like. Their loves, their frustrations, joys, sorrows…  Unlike the main character of a book where the author brings them to life, and the reader feels their pain and their joy.  These people are more like the minor characters in a book, where we only see them or hear them in a scene or two. But you have to agree that no real-life character is a minor character. Their stories are real. One of my sons told me this morning that he just talked to a friend today who encouraged him. Encouraging others is a good thing. That encouragement will come back to you. I’ve seen it happen over and over again.

Okay, let’s go back to minor characters. Not in life but in a book. To those who have read book 1 of Prymzia, I have to ask, ‘Do you remember Ember?’  I explored her story and wrote a short story about her.  I’ll give more information about her story, The Potter’s Apprentice, soon.
