Christmas decorating contests bring the creativity out in me. My team exuded inspiration and talent. Santa’s Workshop might not be an extraordinary theme, but my team was extraordinary. Office doors became reindeer stables, little paper elves displayed each team member’s face, pictures became shiny wrapped presents, one gifted individual did all the lettering (North pole sign, Santa’s Toy Factory, etc.) by hand, a big white sled sat appropriately near Santa’s mailbox, and hardworking elves made sure that the cogwheels were working properly. The many hours spent, not only won us second place, but also a fun time building relationships.

The fun continued as my Indiana kids came for an early Christmas celebration. Our home was full of our children and grandchildren. Squeals and thank yous from the little ones created an atmosphere of joy. Their snuggles and loves melted this Grammy’s heart. I wonder what Joseph and Mary felt as they held their little bundle of joy for the first time—the bundle that was and is the joy to the world.
